About Navan Educate Together National School

NETNS logo Promoting a philosophy of education in which no child is considered an outsider, which promotes the fullest development of ability irrespective of gender, class or stereotype: and which encapsulates this ethos in a democratic partnership, uniquely combining the involvements of parents with the professional role of teachers.

Learn Together Programme
The Learn Together Programme is the name of our Religious & Ethical Education Programme (REEP) in our school. One of the central roles of the Patron is to develop the policy and safeguard the ethos of the school. The REEP committee (which has representatives from the Board & Parent's Association) has developed the policy and aims and is now working on the content of the curriculum.

NETNS Patron
All National Schools operate under the 1998 Education Act which recognise the Patron as the manager of the school. In the case of denominational schools, often the Archbishop or Bishop is the Patron. In Educate Together schools we are under the direct patronage of Educate Together. The patron is responsible for the establishment of the Board of Management (B.O.M). It appoints two members of the Board including the Chairperson. The Chairperson of the BOM is automatically a member of the Patron.

The Patron together with the Department of Education & Science sanctions the appointment of Assistant and Principal teachers. One of the main responsibilities of the Patron is the location of the school. This is of particular importance in a newly established school such as ours. The Patron meets approximately once every three weeks, but much of the work is carried out through sub committees.
